06 Januari 2015 | Australië, Adelaide

Well well well, hi there, it was about time to give you guys an update. Had no change to do that, until now. We've landed in an bloody hot Adelaide yesterday, 36 Celcius here. I am in an internet cafe in chinatown, while the the other 2 troublemakers walk around town.
We have had THE BEST TOUR on Tasmania! We arrived in Hobart on sunday the 29th in the afternoon, from Melbourne after a bumpy flight. Spent the afternoon and evening near the harbour, saw the sailboats from the Sidney-Hobart race. The winner was the Wild Oats, sow the Black shepp finish, we met that crew in Sidney, when we were there with Adrian and Maree. We welcomed them and they showed us the ship from the inside. WOW!
Later in the evening we did some winetasting at the Taste of Tasmania. Nice food and wine festival that was going on for the whole week. We had a nice hotel, called the Central Bar and Cafe. Nice people working there! For our organized tour we had to meet the next morning at an hostel at 7 a.m! We didn't realized that was not the last morning we had to get up early..............
We had a group of 20 people from all different nationalities. Korea, England, Belgium, Hongkong, Germany, Canada, Italy, different ages, but the 3 of us were the oldies! At the end we adopted pretty much all od them, because we had a great and fun group. Our tourguide, Rhendon, was the best as well. After a day we were already the A-MA-ZING big happy family!
Anyway, we left Hobaert with rain, Pretty much the rest of the day was rainy. Not jusr rainy, but really rainy. We did see nice things though. Biautiful waterfalls, rainforest and more. Also a creepy kinda horror town, called Qeenstown, not far from Straham, were we spent the first 2 nites. The hostel was really basic, more then basic, but we managed. We had a bbq the first evening, so we could mingle with the group. Next day we did a cruise, went to Sarah island, former prison, now a beautiful rainforest! The weather was just perfect, nice and sunny.
That evening was newyears eve. We had pizza, outside in the sub, went to Oceanbeach, had a bonfire, with our own made little fireworks. Got back to hostel before midnight, because the next morning we had to get up at 5.45 a.m.!!! Crazy huh........... It was for good cause though, we thought, because we were going to Cradle mountain. Unfortuanally, it was raining again, raining a lot and it was kinda foggy, so we didn't get to do what was planned. But we had a great day anyway. At 10 a.m. we had champagne, to celebrate the new year, because in Holland it was midnight.
After Cradle mountain we drove to Launceston, weather was nice and sunny again! Dinner in hostel, son of the (dutch) night manager played the diggeridoo, do I spell this right?
As we were going further with this tour, we got to know each other much better and we really had laughs, everyday, in the bus while driving, outside the bus, everywhere! On our way to Bicheno, nice little town, we went to Bay of Fire, swam at the "cozy corner" beach, it was a bit called the water, but we dutchies had no prolblem with that. Beautiful beach, nice white sand and blue, green water!
Dinner in Bicheno with the whole group in a nice restaurant, called Pasini's. Late that evening, after I fell over a little pole, flipt forwards and landed on my back, (second time in 2 days) we saw the blue little pinguins! I have seen them in New Zealand as well, but they are still the cutest! We got a nice tour and saw them come in from the ocean, the parents, lokking for their babies. who were waiting for them on land. Realy nice to see!
Sunday, the 4th we were going for a long hike at to Freycenet park and Wineglas bay. That day it was really HOT! Rhen, our guide warned us and told all of us to bring water, hat and suntanlotion. Still, people don't bring any of that and even dress like they are going to an area where it is winter.........................
Anyway, when we were ready to start the hike, this ranger kinda guy walks up to us and starts talking to Rhen and says "you are not leaving" We thought he was kidding and Rhen thought there was a candid camera somewhere hidden in the bushes. But this guy was serious, they closed the park, due to fire danger. Serious business, but understandebly. Rhen had never experienced this before and was ofcourse, like us very dissapointed. We were all in kind of a shock. But then, plan B, C or D had t be made and it was all good. We went to this beautiful beach, called friendly beach, had a great walk, lovely swim and the family was happy again! Thanks Rhen!
In the afternoon we went to this really nice wild park, called Boonarong I believe it is called. Saw baby wombat, soooo cute!!! Koala, and lots of kangaroos everywhere! We fed them, tickeled them under the chin as well, ;-)
Early evening we arrived in Hobart, hostel wasn't the best one, but leave it like this. We had the best evening with the whole group. It was the last night of Tasty Tasmania, we drank ciders, wine, beer, ate and shared food like we are really a family! Rhen took us to some local bars, made us drink shots, yeh yeh, Irene had her first shot ever! Tequila!
Next moring we had to get up early, again. for our last day trip.
We had to say goodbye to Rhen, :-( but got an other nice guide that day. Mattie, also very cool dude.
Everybody was really tired, didn't reallt wanna do this trip, but at the end it was a great day! Went to Port Arthur, former prison. Heard a lot af talking about the history, but it didn't really register with all of us.
At 7 p.m. we came we were back at hostel, we stayed at hte same we were the 1st nite, and we were all dead tired, but hey, we HAD to out for dinner, we met the group for the last time. We had the best salmon and on top of that Frans Grimbergen, an old friend from loooooong time ago, showed up with his family. Live in Singapore, trevelling in Tasmania and hadn't seen him in 26 years. Was great!
Well, then we had to say goodbye to everybody. People were crying, when we were leaving, really, it was an AMAZING week! New friends, You probably read this log also, it was so much fun with you.
We are in Adelaide now and miss all of you already! Keep in touch with the Dutch!
And speaking of small world, we left hobart by plane to go to Adelaide, via Melbourne and at Melbourne airport this guy walks up to me and says hey there! It was Cody, this guy I met at a bar in Hobart.
OK, this was the update for now. I am sure I am forgetting things, but now I gotta upload photo's. Hope you enjoyed it and till next time.
Ciao for now,
Louise and ofcourse hi from the other 2 crazy ladies.
ps. sorry if there are spelling mistakes
